What is a vIBAN?

A vIBAN (virtual IBAN) is a real IBAN that can receive standard SEPA bank transfers from anyone in 36 European countries. It works like a regular bank account number but is created programmatically via API — designed for AI agents.

Can an AI agent actually have its own bank account?

Not exactly. A human account holder completes KYC once and is legally responsible. The agent then operates under that account using API keys. The agent gets its own vIBAN, balance, and transactions — but the human remains the accountable party.

Is this regulated?

Yes. Funds are held by Bison Digital Bank in Lisbon, Portugal — regulated under Portuguese and EU banking law. They provide both traditional banking and crypto custody services.

Which countries does SEPA cover?

SEPA covers 36 countries: all EU member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra, Vatican City, and the UK.
